Our Beliefs

The name “Heritage” was chosen out of a passion to preserve, proclaim, and pass on what has been entrusted to God’s people–“the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

Heritage Baptist Church

Our Statement of Faith is a summary of what we believe as a church. It is anchored in God’s Word and in continuity with historic Christianity.

Our Church Covenant is a summary of promises we make to one another that defines how we will live as a church.

Core Values

The most important aspects of Heritage Baptist Church will not be our uniqueness but what we share in common with every true church. Still, Heritage Baptist Church will prioritize Scriptural doctrines and practices that, by God’s grace, will strengthen the congregation in health.

  • The perfect creator God supremely reigns.

  • God’s Word is without error in all that it contains.

  • God alone saves by grace alone through faith alone in Christ’s person and work alone.

  • The Bible’s teaching is essential for living godly lives and building healthy churches.

  • The church’s mission is to make disciples of all nations through evangelism and teaching.

  • Only those who give a credible profession of faith should be members of Christ’s church.

  • Corporate worship is the gathering of the congregation.

  • Corporate worship is for exalting God and congregational edification.

  • The church’s preaching should be aimed at explaining and applying Scripture.

  • The church is ruled, under Christ and His Word, by the gathered church, and is led by elders.

  • Pastors are qualified men who teach God’s Word, oversee the ministry, shepherd the members, pray for the saints, and equip the flock for ministry; deacons are individuals who minister alongside the pastors by supporting their ministry of preaching and prayer and who facilitate spiritual ministry that meets physical needs.

  • The work of ministry is for the entire church.

  • In the home and the church, men and women–equal in dignity and worth–have distinct roles that are designed by God for flourishing.

  • God calls us to worship Him with all we are and have.

  • With God and because of Christ, we have everything.

  • Without God, we can do nothing.

  • Congregational gatherings, not small groupings or customized programs, are the centerpiece and springboard of all we are and do.

  • What unites God’s people is the gospel and the truths of God’s Word.

  • The health of churches is tied to the godliness and preparedness of her pastors.

  • The gospel spreading is tied to the health of Christ’s churches.
